Create a URL for SEO.
Choosing the right URL is important for your webpage or site SEO. URL is an abbreviation for Uniform Resource Locator.
URL is an address or a formatted text string used by web browsers and other software to identify a network or locate a resource on the internet and gives direction for a specific resource on the internet. Consider adding no spaces in your URL because that will become part of the permanent link to your website.
Parts of URL
URL is divided into three parts namely network protocol, file or resource location, and hostname.
Network protocol: This is used to determine how data is transmitted between different devices in the same network. It’s used to specify how the URL connects to communicate with each other regardless of any differences in their internal processes, structure or design. Examples of network protocols are HTTP( Hypertext Transfer Protocol), UDP( User Datagram Protocol), IP( Internet Protocol), ARP( Address Resolution Protocol), FTP( File Transfer Protocol), TCP( Transmission Control Protocol) and so on.
Resource location: This is the target of an HTTP request for identifying resources whose nature isn’t defined.
Hostname: This is also known as the web address. The hostname is a series of labels attached with dots to a network that sends the user to a specific website or webpage.
The hostname can be a domain name or an IP address. An IP address is a numerical label assigned to the device connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication.
Each hostname must be 1 to 63 characters long. URLs are written according to the syntax: http://marketer://host/location. For instance, if your business or company’s name is Felfo Digital, your URL can be http://felfodigital.com.ng/
